Corporate Corruption

Written on May 23, 2008 – 4:06 am | by bikoyski2002

It is not only the government that can commit corruption, corporations can play the same game. In the past there was this corporation which made a scheme to make it appear to avoid taxes when in actuality what it does is to evade taxes. But I’d touch on that later. Senator Enrile and others pointed out something clear, whenever we enter into a contract of service with Meralco we pay a two month deposit. So why is it that Meralco would just come after several days to remove the power? What happens to these deposits? And if you leave your residence and move to say in the province, what happens to those deposits you’ve paid already?

If you’re renting a house or an apartment, the owner might require you to pay a month in deposit and a month in advance, these are consumables. If you damage a door, or a window, the deposit answers for the damage. If you do not damage anything you can arrange it with the owner of your apartment or room that the deposit could apply to a month’s rent that usually happens when you’re about to move out. Or if you’re late in paying the rent, you can tell the landlady to accept the deposit as payment. But with Meralco- you have to move out and pronto, if you miss out on a month’s bill. And this does not simply happen on a one, two, three or four persons but a lot of people. I remember my mom would ask me before to cut class just to avoid the disconnection-“Putang ina- may deposit naman pala”.

A newspaper reports that perhaps Malacanang is hitting on Meralco because the ABS-CBN has been attacking corruption. Really? Or is it true that the worse enemy of a crook is his fellow crook? Here’s another reason why not to put click my remote and enter the channels of 2, 23 and ANC and the rest of Lopez owned stations. In fact without calling for a nationwide boycott a lot of people are already pissed. A client of mine has his television only tuned to 5 and 7. Our tv at home could be turned to any channel except those owned by ABS-CBN. Why?

Don’t label me a hater either. First, I have friends and even batchmates and even neighbors who work for Meralco- and second I worked my ass of to pay all bills, and I sometimes don’t sleep because I have to rush my work and here’s a corporation that is threatening to cut off the power, when there’s actually a deposit- in fact the equivalent of two deposits paid. It makes me feel like lighting up a torch to stalk the big Ogre.

Meralco stated that it would start refunding meter deposits and would include interest of four years- hah- that shows only that they’re guilty. That to me is a clear admission that they’ve been cheating and deserve only cheaters justice.

And that’s not all they still have to pay back P30 billion they took from you and me to pay their taxes and worse they even passed to you and me the electricity used by Meralco. I think that is merely the top of the iceberg there’s still a lot of dirt swept under the rug. The big lesson is- you don’t have to be in government to cheat, to be corrupt and to profit from your corruption. The sleaze happens in the private sector too.

The Start of School

Written on May 23, 2008 – 4:01 am | by bikoyski2002

It was during college when I become anxious of the start of school year. Well now as a lawyer to me it means lots or tons of traffic which sometimes result in my being late for hearings in courtrooms in Las Pinas, Paranaque and far places. It also means I’ll be seeing my nephews, nieces less and less except perhaps during weekends. When I was a kid it meant the end of my "street" and "kiddie" learning. You learn everyday even at play. For instance, the game "monopoly" told me that cut throat business is bad- another game "millionaires" is like a cartel- nobody loses and nobody wins- but if there are other customers- these customers would be the ones to pay. Chess teaches a kid a lot and so does checkers or dama which my Australian playmates call draughts. Chess has been a game of logic- and a game of strategies, counter-strategies, sacrifices and puzzles. There was a game where my uncle traded his queen and a bishop so that he could put a knife at my king. I won in casualties but lost the war. Chess is also a fine game for me then because I was able to impress an Aussie girl who played with us and who only knew draughts or checkers. She kept telling her brother "bozo" after his younger brother made errors in the moves such as the moves of the knight or a bishop. I wonder why I haven’t came across a computer version of "Mastermind" this is a memory enhancing game. Its actually a simple game of trying to guess the correct positioning of your opponent’s pins. Some street games require a certain skill- like flicking your hands in a game of "tex" where the object is getting the pile of "tex cards" of your opponent. Its no different from gambling. But I usually play indoors since some obnoxious adults then would spit on the street and there goes our game. Knocking your opponent’s top or marble also requires a certain amount of dexterity and skill. And I wonder if someone has played marbles like adults playing a golf game- because some of my friends just did that complete with sticks for our wooden and iron clubs. The start of school is the end of my street learning.

Don’t Ask or my Ex- what T.G.I.S. means

Written on May 23, 2008 – 3:59 am | by bikoyski2002

It was only lately that I learned that this mean "Thank God, its Saturday" or Thank God its Sunday". To me and my ex- during my law school years and prior to the bar exams it meant- "TANGA GAGO ISTUPIDO  and all the curse words in the Filipino language".

Paminsan minsan kasi ang sarap- mag-mura. Nakakahawa nuon yung ex ko- pati ako natuto magmura. So telling someone "Uh brod hindi mo nasara yung pinto- paki sara naman" is grammatically wrong then- this is the way to say it "Hoy gago tang-ina nito ah- sara mo yung pinto- pupunta punta ka dito- tarantado!" And there’s even a way of saying it- sort of making you look like Stalin, Hitler, Saddam, Idi Amin and all the motherfuckers of the world combined.

I don’t know where and when my ex-girlfriend learned to cuss and insult. Its sort of her nature at first or so it seems. But one day she told her mother of her dream- or plans after law school. "Ma ang plano ko eh magtayo nang motel sa Tagaytay"- To which her mother retorted "Hotel- hindi motel, gago! Ang hotel duon natutulog ang tao, ang motel duon gumagawa nang milagro- tanga!" I was shocked- meron palang pinagmanahan.

Up to now I’m still dumb about some of the curse words she has been using like "Ulikba" and some of her curse words are in Kapampangan which is her mother’s lingua franca. She was surprised when I told her - moron, idiot and imbecile are of different scales of dumbness- with the idiot being the lowest.

And now that we’ve parted- well I don’t know if she still curses.

But when I passed the bar exam- I heard this while she congratulated me "Vic- putang ina ang galing mo- dalaw ka na dito- bilisan mo- gago!" Well I just sighed. I wonder if I had replied "Oh sige parating na ako- tanga". That would’ve made us a fine couple.

What Gains in Edsa?

Written on February 25, 2008 – 6:29 pm | by bikoyski2002

Cory must be imagining things. She says the “youth should be told about Edsa, and to ensure that the gains are not lost”. What gains are she talking about? During the Freedom Constitution (prior  to 1987 Constitution) she could have simplified land reform but no she has to wait for the oligarchs to sit in Congress. She had to cling on to Hacienda Luisita (siyempre lupa yan sayang din…) and up to now the blood spilt in Mendiola with seventeen (17) farmers killed in cold blood is in her hands. On her hands too are the blood of farmers who have died in Hacienda Luisita.

By the way during those early days in Edsa- was Cory in Edsa herself? Can someone answer to me?

We go back to the gains- isn’t it a fact that during her term this country experienced the worst brownouts and blackouts (brownout daw pag araw, blackout pag gabi na) and who was selling generators? Ahem. And isn’t she the one who gave back to the Lopezes in a silver platter Meralco and Channel 2? (Must be the reason why Kris is stuck in Channel 2). I remember during her term somewhere in the summer a shipment of rice from

Mindoro

allegedly got lost at sea somewhere during summer.

Who could forget the rise of the price of galunggong- at least that fish was cheap during the time of Marcos- and who could forget lining up to buy rice- when was that, during the time of President Cory’s Presidency. Let’s keep the spirit of Edsa yes but its gains? What gains? The fact that nothing was done about the worsening traffic in Edsa during her time? And what of her speeches- “Nung nabubuhay pa si Ninoy xxx”—“Nung nabubuhay pa si Ninoy xxx”- (akala tuloy nung kapitbahay namin siya pumatay kay Ninoy eh).

She was also the first to use libel and I bet she taught Gloria its use after she sued Louie Beltran and Max Soliven when the former claimed “nagtago sa ilalim nang

kama

”, the figure of speech defense was not bought by the court. Must be one of the reasons why Louie Beltran died.

But a lot of people died during her term and I have to add my hero “Lean Alejandro”(this was the true Tibak or Aktibista- all the USC chairmen who followed are wimps)- and “Ka Olalia” whose eyes were gouged out-  if we blame the killings of leftists on Gloria now- then we should blame this one on Cory. What is good for the goose is good for the duck.

It was during Cory’s term that a lot of these civilian outfits to kill leftists and Muslim separatists were born? The big issue then were the CAFGUs and Singlaub was here in fact recruiting civilians and former soldiers. The old Marcos animal CHDF or CHDU (civilian home defense force or unit) was replaced by Cory’s CAFGU (civil armed forces geographical units).

It was during the time of Cory that mass-murders and rape became common.

Marikina

then was known as “Ma-rape-kina” and I remember towards the end of her term during the First Gulf War a friend of hers Manglapus even said “if rape is inevitable (then) relax and enjoy it”. Gains from Edsa? Maybe she gained- her family still controls Hacienda Luisita, she has her daughter in a prime channel and a son in the Senate.

And now she says to do an Edsa? (Talaga lang ha?) Some say Cory didn’t steal anything but here’s a puzzle. I watched tv months ago- about the jewelry of Imelda- the jewels were surrendered to Joker Arroyo who promptly gave it to Cory. Where are these jewels now? Joker Arroyo was clear in his words “You don’t ask a receipt from the President” Now we asks where is it?

The Miracle of Edsa was parceled out to politicians who betrayed the Edsa revolution- and here she is calling another people power so that it can be betrayed again. We don’t need oligarchs doing the waltz empowering themselves after each and every struggle. What we need is not “people power”- but people empowerment.

Santa Claus Killed

Written on January 9, 2008 – 10:09 pm | by bikoyski2002

Unknown to most children the Santa Claus they’ve been seeing lately are fakers who try to appear as Santas Claus. For one thing Claus doesn’t do anything like ho-ho-ho because he usually has sore throat after going inside chimneys and getting infected from coughing and wheezing adults.

Recent reports from the covert operatives state that Mr. Claus was almost killed in the 1980s when he tried crossing from

South Korea

to

North Korea

as interceptors and surface to air missiles tried to knock off Santa and his reindeer. The same incident occurred when Mr. Claus tried to go through war torn

Afghanistan

during the height of the war between the Taliban and the

Soviet Union

with rocket propelled grenades flying and almost hitting Santa and his reindeer.

But the demise of Santa Claus was when he tried to give some toys in

Iraq

crossing the “no fly zone”- a couple of F-16 fighters immediately flew when Claus and his reindeers crossed into

Iraq

. Two sidewinders and a Hellfire missile from an Apache finally brought Santa down into

Kuwait

.

The toys from the Santa sleigh were immediately capture and brought as contraband and found their way to second hand stores in the

Philippines

while parts of the Sleigh were auctioned off to collector hunters. Santa’s body was brought to the intelligence services of

Britain

and

France

with the brain being brought to US intelligence operatives for dissecting.

An official gave this brief statement “Well it has to be done somehow. We cannot let anything or anyone pass through the no-fly zone— and while we did allow several women go through the no-fly zone flying their plane stark naked- we cannot allow this fellow in a red suit since his contraption alerted all our radars”.

Another official said that Santa should have used radar jammers or consulted the UN as to allowing him to fly escorted.  Some US forces however lauded the knocking out of the sleigh and reindeer and even had roasted reindeer that Christmas.

Mga Pag-Iingat Ngayong Bagong Taon

Written on December 29, 2007 – 9:26 pm | by bikoyski2002

New “Star” Theory

Written on December 24, 2007 – 2:49 am | by bikoyski2002

The “star” of Bethlehem which some astronomers believe is a supernova is explained by astrophysicist Grant Matthews as a planetary alignment in our solar system. But check it out the dates of the alignments in NASA’s database nullifies December as the date of Jesus birth- in fact Matthews thinks that the possible date is somewhere April 17 6 BC when the sun, Jupiter, the moon and Saturn aligned with the constellation Aries while Venus and Mars were in neighboring constellations.

The other dates available for planetary alignment puts the birth either at Feb. 20 6 BC when Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn alight with constellation Pisces and June 17 2 BC when Jupiter and Venus were closely aligned with Leo. There’s no December in the picture- either Jesus if the theory is correct is Pisces, Leo or Aries. Matthews posits that Jesus is Aries since the wise men recognized the sign of Aries (my sign by the way) that a powerful leader was born.

If the theory is correct then whose birth are we celebrating every December? Well the pagan gods perhaps with the blessings of the Roman empire . Every bit of the December birth- yuletide, the winter in Europe and in the Northern Hemisphere does not put the birth in the Middle East. I don’t even think the shepherds are out there during this time of the year.

Its likely to me however that Jesus was born sometime February. One of the symbols of early Christianity is not the cross but the fish- he’s not only asking his disciples to be fishers of men, there’s a possibility he’s Pisces. Take note that the men from the East were looking for a child which could mean two things- a child just born or a child that has been born several months back which means that Jesus is months old at the time the Wisemen arrived to give him the gifts.
